Hello shoppers. I am Maria Stultz.
Every item you find here began as a burning idea; one that involved detailed work and multiple steps because that's the kind of artisan I am: I enjoy designing and creating products that derive their soul from the artistic transformation and combination of raw and simple materials. I rarely make things that take little effort, rely mainly on the pre-made beauty of precious gems, or can be economically reproduced over and over. For that reason you'll find very little stock of every product in my shop, and once sold out, it is unlikely that it will be restocked again. I prefer to experiment and learn, moving to the next design and variation in my mind.
Transformation and experimentation are my creative engines, so I like to use humble and earth-friendly materials (wood from tree prunings, textile remnants, base metals, tumbled rocks, scrap paper, and repurposed objects). It pains me to throw usable things to the trash, and I love to give second lives to objects around me.
When I first opened this shop, my life and creations were inspired by a very active 2-year-old boy. It turned out that his development required more dedication and love than typical, so I put the shop on vacation to focus on the most important creative project of my life. Eight years later and (almost) out of the woods, it seems I can slowly get back to making and selling while my very active ten-year-old stretches his wings and joins the world. Let's see where this second chapter goes...
